Second Verses Awarded Grant From The Young Givers

Second Verses has been awarded a $5,000 grant from The Young Givers, hosted by The Generosity Trust. “We are incredibly grateful to the men and women of The Young Givers who believe in the work we are doing at Second Verses, specifically with our HopeSong program,” said Andy Tallent, Executive Director of Second Verses. He adds, “These funds will go to support songwriter partnerships for the program that has already touched lives around the Chattanooga area, and beyond.”

HopeSong was launched in 2024 and brings the healing power of music to cancer patients throught the songwriting experience. Cancer patients are referred to Second Verses and are paired with songwriters that align with their musical tastes and preferences. The songs written have ranged from faith based to humorous, and everything in between.

Cancer is a life changing diagnosis that yields much anxiety and uncertainty about the future. HopeSong exists to bring the very real power in music to patients through the avenue of songwriting. Writing a song is a powerful way to say things that words cannot always express.
