Welcome to Second Verses

Welcome to Second Verses, a nonprofit organization that uses the transformative power of songwriting to bring hope and healing to those who need it most.

About Second Verses

At Second Verses, we believe in the healing power of song. Our mission is to bring the light of Christ into challenging situations through music.Through two key initiatives, we aim to touch lives deeply and share hope with those who feel forgotten:

Songwriting Programs in Correctional Facilities: We offer a unique outlet for inmates, using music and songwriting to inspire self-reflection, healing, and positive change.

Watch: Hands & Scars - A song written by inmates in Tennessee

HopeSong for Cancer Patients: In collaboration with professional songwriters, we create personalized songs of hope and encouragement for cancer patients to uplift spirits and share strength through music. Know someone facing cancer? Share HopeSong with them and they can request a songwriter pairing to experience the power of music as they write a song of hope together!

Listen to a Song of Hope, our very first HopeSong!

I have been privileged to minister with Second Verses at a women’s prison in Tennessee. I witnessed God ministering to women’s hearts through music. The Holy Spirit and the power of God’s gift of music opened many hearts to express their pain and receive truth and encouragement. They learned songwriting tools so they can continue their journey of healing through self-expression, and crying out to God, with glimmers of hope. Without Jesus, we are all prisoners of our own making.

  • Songwriting has meant a freedom of expression for me and given me the ability to see past my situation and develop the ability to see what and how my actions might positively affect others. Thank you for everything.

    Danny C. (Inmate)
